Odyzee School

Kategorie: School
Total construction time: December 2010 – April 2011

A school complex in the Netherlands which won the PassiefBouwen Award 2011.

The Odyzee School was the first school building in the Netherlands to be built to Passive House Standards.

A design team developed and planned the entire project from start to finish. g&m projects joined the team on day one and was able to bring its expertise into the planning process right away.

The structure was built from wood and concrete elements in a hybrid approach. As a result, the advantages of building in concrete, which is very common in Holland, could be combined with the benefits of using wood structures, which resulted in the erection of a highly cost-effective complex.

A modern school complex where teachers and students enjoy a sense of wellbeing. The objective of maximum climate protection is achieved simultaneously. This project documents once again that minimising the impact on the climate also boosts the comfort of a building's occupants.

Design team planning is a highly effective tool that utilises the expertise of everyone involved as early in the project as possible. This is a model that offers plenty of scope for expansion.
