Category: Commercial building
Construction period: 5/2015 – 9/2015

The skeleton structure of this three-storey office building is constructed in beech laminated veneer lumber. The structure is visible on the inside and the warm tone of the beech is palpable. The envelope is protected by painted plank cladding.

Innovation:

BauBuche was used as the main construction material. Thanks to the extraordinary strength of BauBuche, components constructed in it can be much thinner than components made from softwood composites. The excellent surface quality also makes structures built in BauBuche ideal for visible areas.

Solution:

With their bright timber surfaces, the struts and beamed ceiling of the skeleton structure dominate the impression of the space, create a sense of well-being and provide a pleasant working environment. Large or small areas can be created, depending on the workspace requirements. The partitions consist of a combination of closed white surfaces and large glass windows providing views into the other spaces.

Result:

The two-metre-wide balcony on the south-facing elevation creates an optical extension of the space and offers shielded access to the fresh air in a pleasant environment close to the park. The shadow cast by the overhang is immediately noticeable. This makes it possible to avoid direct sunlight and dispenses with the need for technical solar protection.
